I was admitted to the hospital on Oct. 7 with pancreatitis
and 2/3 of my stomach in my hialtal hernia. When Dr. Pradan
did surgery, he found so much scar tissue in the form of
adhesions that he spent two hours cleaning out the scar tissue
and pulling my stomach out of the rupture on my esophagus.
He will open me up again on the 30th to repair the hernia and
attach my stomach to my abdominal wall.
My mood right now is stable. My husband is a rock of
support and care who took the entire week off of work to be
with me. We were scheduled for 11 days vacation beginning
the 26th, so we scheduled the second round for that time and
canceled the time away.
I'm asking for the prayers of my colleagues and friends for
this challenge. I have been an adhesion factory since I was
in 7th grade, and this will be my eighth abdominal surgery.
In 2002 and this last week, the surgeons sprayed my
intestines with a sort of teflon substance that is supposed
to inhibit the growth of scar tissue. So, I'm hoping that this
will be the last time for this life-long companion to raise it's
ugly head. Each time, the recovery is more difficult than
the last. Aging is definitely not the for weak.

Aren't we lucky to have such weather changes? The first
of this week we had our air conditioner running and this
morning I put the furnace on since the cold and dampness
make my arthritis hurt. But the temperature changes and
changes in colors of the leaves remind us that God is still
in control. How blessed we are!

Winnie Brinkley was a long time secretary (approx.
40 yrs) at the 1st UMC in Brookville, PA. I believe she
also attended Grove City Conferences representing
her church for quite a few years, as well. Perhaps some
of the conference pastors and lay members remember her.
She passed on a couple weeks ago after an illness.
